It’s probably gossip in its nastiest form. We become addicted to the adrenaline rush of indignation and must feed the rush to keep that “good” feeling.

I think you’re exactly right. We have to exercise self-discipline and turn the tide of negativity. Say what has upset you and be done with it. Don’t cleverly insert referrals to the original problem. Don’t choose this one moment to let the tsunami of criticism come crashing down.
