I missed giving you all a new word for the day yesterday. I hope to make up for that with one of the lovely words from the Regency period. Not only did they have beautiful clothes and stylings–their vocabulary was exquisite!

Persiflage: (noun) light raillery (from Fr. persifler–to whistle)

Mr. Winthrop, your persiflage and subterfuge do lead me to believe that your suit cannot be in earnest!
