Buttered Cabbage


1/4 cup butter
1 head cabbage, chopped, sliced, quartered or shredded
1 T brown sugar
1 cup water
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper to taste

brown 1/4 cup salted butter in cast iron skillet
Add brown sugar and stir
Add chopped cabbage
Add 1 cup water
Cover until cabbage begins to wilt
Baste cabbage with butter/water/sugar pan goodness
Cover and cook until cabbage reaches desired tenderness. Add salt and pepper to taste. You can also add more butter if you would like. 🙂
